Deflect the problems in a boiler maintenance
The heating boiler in your home is generally ignored in the summertime when warmth is plentiful, but if it does suddenly stop working, you may be stuck with measly kettle fulls of hot water and chilly cold showers everyday. The heating boiler is a part of the home which is rarely, if ever, thought of, until it stops working. Right away it comes to the front of the agenda with a recognition of its importance and the costly nature of its maintenance.
If you rent your home, you won’t have to worry about having some money aside for the gas boiler repairs; your landlord will cover it. But if you live in your own house, it will be wise to have a special savings pot or central heating insurance in case something goes wrong with your boiler.
You might consider investing in a new heating boiler model if your previous one is older than ten years, it would cut the cost of your fuel especially if the new one is a high-efficiency model and it would be less prone to breakdown. Your choice of a gas boiler should be determined by the capacity required (based on family needs), the space available for the central heating system and the existing heating system. If you have a small home with few people and do not want to wait for hot water then a combi boiler is your best option. This gas boiler heats up the water through the mains as used and therefore a storage tank is not required. Hot water is instant and on demand; but if someone runs a hot tap while you’re having a nice hot shower, be prepared to jump out quickly!.
A sealed heating boiler system has a storage tank, often in ventilated closet, and allows a big family to simultaneously use the hot tap and take showers without diluting hot water or reducing the water pressure. This central heating system can easily be installed within hours and doesn’t require excess space. But if hot water is used too quickly it would run out because the storage tank hot water would be depleted and is replenishment is not instant.
The most space is taken , two water tanks in the attic and a storage cylinder in the upstairs airing cupboard, by a open vent central heating boiler normally found in older houses. Though it does not give the best pressure and takes a while to heat, it is very like a sealed system that can provide hot water to several outlets.
A Back gas boiler is another heating boiler which provides good water pressure, allows several water outlets but occupies quite a bit of space. Traditionally back boilers are stored in a chimney breast, but unless you already have one, it’s probably not worth switching to one. However, if you do already have a back central heating boiler system installed in your home and it needs replacing, rather than getting a completely new system, it would be more sensible to get a new back central heating boiler installed.
Whichever central heating system your home has, it can be costly to repair. That is why it is important to get heating insurance so you can be confident that any costs will be taken care of if something breaks down, costs which cover labour and spare parts for your central heating system. Take out a central heating boiler maintenance policy that covers annual central heating boiler inspections as well as call-outs and repairs and you could save yourself an extra amount per year.
